Aug 14, 2017 · On Power Lists in Savage Worlds Hoo, it's been a while. I'm hoping to start posting more of my general Savage Worlds design thoughts here alongside the usual character builds, but seeing as the builds business has been slow recently I figured this is as good a return to form as any.

It's against the theme of the game. Savage Worlds isn't about a long list of fine minutiae and specific skills but generic skills that allow characters to be described simply, putting more focus on the character's style rather than his sheet. There are sword or axe or brawling or wrestling skills

As a result, spells tends to differ in terms of flavour rather than power, which is where trappings come in - and Savage Worlds leaves the trappings up to the player, rather than listing predefined spells.

Here are the rules for my 4 attribute version of Savage Worlds. From my experience (two Savage Worlds campaigns, Empire of Ashes and Legends of Steel), the wizard was the massive heavy artillery without a lot of weak points.The main issue was how easy it was to arrange your Edges so you were never losing Power Points (I forget how our wizard players worked it, but as long as they got a good roll they didn't lose the points).
